Once again could not get Elizabeth on the phone today so have no idea how she is.

Every time I have spoken to her she has asked when I am coming down.   Two days ago she sounded a bit distressed and said she was not happy on the Clozapine and wanted to come off it.

I was horrified to learn she is still on Section – WHATEVER FOR –  She is happy to remain there for the time being – at least it is not like that prison camp.   I have not seen Cambian Four Star Wards yet but planned to visit on my Birthday coming up in August.

Anyway I have had numerous conversations with staff and the manager who are extremely nice.  My only complaint being that I could not get through to her on the phone.  I thought they had sorted things out.  Anyway, I decided to find out the name of the psychiatrist who happens to be based there.   I will refer to the psychiatrist as Dr W.

Dr W spoke to me and I was so hoping we would get on.  The conversation started well but did not end well.  I questioned what my daughter was doing on Meformine and asked if she had diabetes but was told no and she was a bit vague but the Manager had already told me –  it was to counteract the tremendous weight gain caused by the Clozapine.  These two drugs are drugs that are in the first instance prescribed by the Maudsley  but according to the presentation it would appear they are very both mentioned in terms of experimentation and at the beginning of the prsentation it gives the n ames of the drug companies involved in providing funding for such experimentation.   So that is two people saying she does not have diabetes but I then went on to say about the oils and she said they were allowed and were being given.   I then went on to say about the supplements and she said SOME were being given.    All the supplements I obtained from the States had been prescribed by a properly qualified psychiatrist but an orthomolecular psychiatrist.  I told Dr W that I had a prescription that my daughter should have included on the ward and I do not think this went down too well.   The other thing I got to find out is how supportive Dr W is towards the Maudsley describing this hell on earth place as a top leading renowned hospital that knew what they were doing and offered excellent care.  When I said this was not true she cut me short in my conversation.  I told her about the abuse going on there but she refused to listen to this.  I told her about my fears re the medication but straight away she leapt to the defense of these harmful chemicals.   I told her that I had seen shocking research papers but again she cut me short in conversation and did not want to know.

I then got on to the subject of the section and said I was not happy about it.  I am sure my daughter is happy in what she describes as a four star hotel but is probably missing the family.  Every time she has asked when I am going to visit and I was planning to come in August but when I asked the question whether I would be able to take her out for dinner – no answer was given and she even tried to push the decision on the manager who she would give orders to herself.    She quickly announced she would be going on holiday Monday until 14 August and that does not tie in with  my birthday – that means I could go all the way there and find I am not allowed to visit and my daughter is not allowed out.   As it happens the rest of the family are all together with me for once and do not like the section either.      They too are not convinced about the drugs as her father said “she has been put on so many ” and they have not worked.  Her father also wants to visit at the same time and we are consulting solicitors.  He is the person they wanted to replace me with but we happened to agree on more than one issue tonight when we spoke about the situation.     Dr W referred to “my behaviour” on the previous ward.    If you have looked at previous blogs you will have seen reference to what really happened based on how I was treated and how my daughter was treated.  This is apalling abuse what is going on under Bethlem Royal Hospital and yet the psychiatrist from Cambian 4 Star Wards was praising and in favour of the drugs and seemed to be against me because she would not give me a firm decision.  It will be interesting to see what happens.     So solicitors are getting involved not just for my daughter and I told CAmbian that whilst I am very happy that she is there rather than Bethlem Royal Hospital I am not happy for any further drugs to be given.  That is against my daughters wishes.    The one thing that worries me is that this psychiatrist could turn my daughter against me by putting words into her head as she tried to twist one or two things I said – I used the word evil to describe care at Bethlem Royal Hospital – she tried to make out I was referring these comments to her and would not let me finish sentences and often talked over me when she did not want to hear the whole sentence.        If it was not for her I would be 100% happy as I am sure the staff and manager are extremely nice at this hospital.

I am currently waiting with interest for ALL the research papers under the Freedom of Information Act.  I will be chasing up the CQC as regards this and feel they ought to do a big investigation as to what is going on.

Anyway,  I have already mentioned Dr James MacCabe who talks about “re-challenging patients who have previously experiened suspected blood dyscrasias or cadiovascular complications of clozapine” at the National Psychosis Unit.

How shocking is this –  from this you can see they they are putting patient’s lives at risk – why would you wish to challenge patients who have previously experienced problems with health in this way? – what kind of hospital is this!

“Improving Tolerability of Clozapine by Dr J H MacCabe  – I see he mentions hypersalivation and sedation.    When I used to visit the shocking Fitzmary II Ward for the most part a lot of patients were just either lying around or walking aimlessly up and down the corridor.  There was nothing to do at weekends and hardly any visitors.  I wanted to bring visitors to the ward at the weekend such as comedians to cheer up the patients and was starting to make enquiries –  I feel truly sorry for the patients who are isolated from the world in a drugged up state, some too ill to venture off the ward and cooped up on a stuffy ward.  What a truly awful place this is!   You look around the grounds and you do not see a soul at times and yet they have lovely grounds apart from the huge high fences that resemble a zoo.  This is very wrong.  When there are good facilities and nice grounds I believe the patients shoujld be allowed to enjoy them but some are too drugged up to be able to do this.  This is a place where they hold clinical trials and use the most vulnerable patients against their wishes in their experimentation with the most dangerous chemicals that act like LSD and cause hallucinations and psychosis, not to mention long term health problems which noone seems to care about.

Anyway, as promised, I have something else to share with you – this is just part of a shocking presentation I have seen.   It consists of many pages and lots of charts and comparisons.  It is called:

“TREATMENT REFRACTORY PSYCHOSIS – WHATS NEW AND WHATS NOT BY DR FIONA GAUGHRAN, LEAD CONSULTANT NATIONAL PSYCHOSIS SERVICE.   THIS INTERESTINGLY LISTS UNDER DECLARATION OF INTERESTS THE FOLLOWING”.

hONORARIA/aDVISOR: BMS, Roche, Family Professional links GSK, Lilly.  Previously funds for conferences/unrestricted research grants/advisory bodies:  Astra Zeneca, janssen, BMS and Lilly.

There are strong links between the Institute of Psychiatry and South London and Maudsley Trust.

It mentions the kind of referals such as Diagnostic Dilemmas, High use of Resources Advice on Management and underneath this is “Treatment Resistance”  and “Sub-optimal Response”

There are lots of charts and on one page they compare Clozapine with Chorpromazine as to how many patients whose condition improved.  They say Clozapine is for treatment-resistant schizophrenia.  I am furious with this as I asked for proof to show my daughter had this condition and she was promised a drug free period and this was not given.  Therefore I do not accept the diagnosis and it particularly looks bad that I have a tape containing an interview with one doctor from the Maudsley stating it take 2 minutes to come up with a diagnosis.  The Consultant Psychiatrist wanted to start “afresh”.  This is so very wrong –  they should look back at what happened to someone in the first place.  There is usually a good reason for mental illness to occur.  It is not always environmental –  it can be because of a traumatic incident and then counselling should be given – not these drugs.    I would like to see the scientific evidence of a diagnosis as there are several in my daughter’s case and I do not think there are any proper tests that determine what is the cause and so therefore how can there be a diagnosis?  What right do the professionals have to ply a patient with these harmful chemicals you cannot just come off easily.  In Ireland the law is changing.  The law should change over here in the UK too to give patients choice and respect.  They experiment here with Olanzapine, Clozapine, Quetiepine and Risperidon from what I can see on one page of the presentation.

Optimizing Clozapine treatment – average dose in UK around 450mg/day.  Lower doses required in elderly, females and non-smokers and in those prescribed certain enzyme inhibitors.  This is really shocking.  I heard from someone that they raise medication to beyond BNF limits and as they are experimenting on patients like human guinea pigs nothing surprises me.

There is another shocking page with the headings

Amber and underneath this Recheck   WCC lower in am.

Red – Stop Clozapine – admit.

There is a page with Professor Taylor’s name “The importance of the recognition of benign ethnic neutropenia in black patients during treatment with clozapine: case reports and database study. and also a heading “Re-starting Clozapine after Neutropenia.

How about this –  Heading of “Mycocrditis, pericarditis and cardiomyopathy in patients treated with clozapine” – they openly admit it causes cardia side effects including myocarditis etc as mentioned above.    They are in full knowledge of increasing numbers of Clozapine related cardia complications reported that has given rise to concern about the risk of acute cardiac side effects in patients treated with the drug.   I am absolutely furious about this and will hold this RESEARCH HOSPITAL WHO ABUSE PATIENTS AGAINST THEIR WISHES ACCORDING TO THE LAW!  BY MESSING ABOUT WITH THEIR DOSAGE OF MEDICATION THEY CAN CAUSE SOMEONE TO GO PSYCHOTIC AND THE NEXT THING IS THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY LIKE AND FORCE SOMEONE INTO THESE CLINICAL TRIALS AGAINST THEIR WISHES WHILST THEY GET FUNDING FOR IT.

I WILL HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE AS THERE IS A HISTORY OF HEART PROBLEMS IN THE FAMILY AND THE FDA STATE CLOZAPINE SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN IN THESE INSTANCES – it has 5 black box warnings to this effect AND I TOLD THE CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST THIS BUT HE DID NOT LISTEN.

THE PRESENTATION GETS EVEN MORE SHOCKING AS IT GOES ON “RE-CHALLENGE AFTER NEUTROPAENIA/AUGMENTING CLOZAPINE WITH ANOTHER ANTI-PSYCHOTIC.

THE ALTERNATIVES TO CLOZAPINE  –  HIGH DOSE OLANZAPINE – THEY SAY WEIGHT GAIN IS WORSE ON OLANZAPINE – HOW TRUE AS ELIZABETH HAS PILED ON WEIGHT SINCE GOING TO THAT HELL ON EARTH PLACE.

COMBINATIONS OF ANTI-PSYCHOTICS

NICE – DO NOT INITIATE REGULAR COMBINED ANTIPSYCHOTIC MEDICATION.  MORE WORK NEEDED.  HOW ABOUT ECT PLUS ANTIPSYCHOTITICS, MELPERONE  FGA PLUS MIRTAZEPINE.   GOOD GOD!   They really are experimenting here to full capacity.

IT IS TOO LONG TO MENTION EVERYTHING  IN THIS SHOCKING PRESENTATION BUT I WILL MENTION THE SUMMARY:

Full MDT assessment

Optimise Clozapine wherever possible

Manage adverse effects proactively

Augment in partial responders

Collaboration with medical specialities if rechallenge

Limited data for altenatives; consideer high dose Olanzapine, antipsychotic combinations, ECT?

All combined with psychological therapties (CBT, CRT – family work and OT).

I nearly choked with laughter when I read “family work”.  Look at what they h ave done as regards me.  ?They first of all sanctioned my daughter on  her leave and stopped her coming out with me for the day.  They then imposed 1 hr escorted leave.   I told the press recently how I was told I could not go running with Elizabeth anywhere that staff could not see me – they even spelt it out as if talking to a small child – not behind trees or bushes but to be seen at all times.  THIS IS FAMILY WORK FOR YOU and then the constant threat of being arrested which prompted me to volunteer for local police.  In fact I would still be keen on doing this as I am going to take a very keen interest in this hospital after the way they have treated me and my daughter.

I hope the above warns people of the dangerous of going into this hospital where they experiment regardless of risks to patients on knowingly highly dangerous chemicals.   LIKE I TOLD THEM THEY SHOULD PAY THE GOING RATE FOR VOLUNTEERS TO CARRY OUT THEIR CLINICAL TRIALS AND NOT USE THE MOST VULNERABLE OF PEOPLE IN SUCH A DISGUSTING WAY.

By the way I was so concerned that I contacted Cambian 4 Star Wards today as she has been put on Metformin for diabetes which is also mentioned in the research papers.   I questioned why as we would need to know as a matter of health and safety if she had type II diabetes but they have told me this is not the case – in fact it is to keep her weight down.   How dreadful is this.

Anyway, my daughter said yesterday she wants to come off these chemicals and was against this in the first place.  I have found the most wonderful advocate who is completely independent and has been a patient and this is just what my daughter needs.  He also knows everyone at SLAM.  I could not be more happy!   I would recommend him to anyone.    My daughter needs to be reduced and come off these chemicals that bring in funding to his hospital.  My daughter may still be on a section but I know how dangerous these chemicals are and want her off them otherwise I shall blame the professionals involved and make it known worldwide.    So, I am taking a keen interest in what is going on and there are groups campaigning all over the UK for better care and I would like to see Cambian offer Orthomolecular care which so many people have not heard of.  That is not to take someone off altogether but keep someone on the minimal of these harmful drugs and yes it does work.  With correct diet and correction with regard to nutrition and supplements to help – yes it does make a difference and I saw a huge difference in my daughter as a result of the wonderful care by an Orthomolecular Psychiatrist that I myself appointed.  This should be available to everyone under the NHS.

I telephoned Elizabeth tonight as I do every evening.   She is miles away but I do not want her to feel that noone in the family is bothering even though have not yet been to see her – for this I would prefer to stay overnight and make a long weekend of it.

She seemed confused and disorientated – much the same as when her father spoke to her last.   Elizabeth mentioned the drug – Clozapine tonight and how she wanted to come off this awful drug.  It is obviously affecting her quite badly.

Noone tells you anything –  even on these better wards which Elizabeth described as a four star hotel I have had trouble in getting through night after night after night.  Every time there has been a problem and I have been phoning on my mobile and every time I had to ask staff to look into matters.  Apparently I finally got to find out the phone was left charging in the office but this not being able to get through has been awful not only for me but for the rest of the family as it is not possible to just pop down there in 5 minutes.

The other thing that bothers me is she keeps saying she has not got her possessions.  She has asked me several times but needs to ask the staff – where is everything.  Where are the expensive oils and supplements.  Where are all her clothes and possessions?  Hopefully tomorrow I will finally get to find out. I have asked this question before but got no answer.

Anyway the conversation was brief and over a pay phone in the communal lounge no doubt.  I have no idea how long Elizabeth is going to be at this centre for rehab but she is not missing anything much back home.   It is very very busy –  the Olympics are approaching and the tube is awful to travel on and so packed.  This kind of atmosphere would be no good for Elizabeth as I remember taking her up to Westminster Abbey on the day of William and Kate’s wedding.  Even though the crowds had died down there were a few frightening moments as Elizabeth got worked up through sheer panic and stress.  I thought I would have to order a taxi home but luckily there was a lift at Westminster Tube Station.

I miss Elizabeth very much even though I was only seeing her at the weekend and my time was cut to 1 her escorted leave by that apalling hospital that is supposedly world renowned.

Today I got a reply back from my letter to CNN – I have written to a few organisations and newspapers relating to the shocking shootings.   However,  what is not reported are true facts surrounding so many cases of this sort.  I too  have witnessed behavioural changes and psychosis and Akathisia.   It is all to easy to blame the psychosis on a so called condition.  However this is not true.   Mental illness is not something that causes this kind of violence however it is the psychiatric drugs that are to blame.  I have witnessed this in more than 1 person in the family who has been on these drugs.  I believe this is all played down because there is so m uch money to be made by  the pharmaceutical industry.   People are not fully warned about these drugs and all the dangers but Dr Ann Blake Tracy has explained everything in her book Prozac Panacea Pandora and interviews I have on CDs.

On a separate blog I am going to write now about the latest shocking presentation I have seen by the Bethlem Royal Hospital.

I am not normally the kind of person to attend such an event as a demonstration but I brought along three friends to this event as all feel as strongly as I do that reform needs to be made under the apalling mental health care system.

The group Speak Out Against Psychiatry I had in fact not heard of before but they had seen my very basic website and felt strongly about holding such a protest as this hospital is well known to some people who they are aware of.

We arrived at about 11.00 am and the protest ended at 2.00 pm – this event was properly organised and done so in a very professional manner.   I would urge everyone to take a look at the website of Speak Out Against Pscyhiatry.

I spoke to members of the press about how apalling the “care” had been and how patients are treated in this so called renowned worldwide hospital (a better description would be a prison camp).    I held up to the cameras the wonderful books that I had brought onto the ward for the team to read and learn from:

Dr Ann Blake Tracy –  Prozac Panacea Pandora

David Healy – Pharmageddon

Dr Candace Pert –  the creator of these monstrous drugs to which she fully admits.

Members of Speak Out for Psychiatry come from all over the country but then this so called renowned hospital takes people from all over the country and from abroad and people think they are going to fabulous place where they are going to get the very best of care.

I feel that the protest was a success as it brought attention at a time when the psychiatrists were visiting and meetings were being held on the ward.

I took time to speak to the Police to explain the whole situation and I know for a fact their training is good as regards mental health patients, having been on the course myself however it is a pity they do not have powers to act – this is governed by the law which seems to be in favour of the psychiatrists.

These psychiatrists who ply patients with harmful drugs and experiment on them at this so call renowned hospital against their wishes think they are above the law.  My daughter is now on Clozapine and I understand she has phoned other family members in distress at times and it looks like things are not going well with this drug.  Having read the research papers it is truly horrible what is going on here at this dreadful hospital.

My daughter is now a long way away and probably they panicked.  For the NHS to move someone so quickly on the spur of the moment   – this is so unusual!  Perhaps they are hoping I will cease to take an interest but how wrong they are.  I am not the kind of person to turn my back as there are other patients left here that need to be thought about.

I have obtained some more apalling research papers and cannot wait to get the file under Data Protection Act that I was previously refused.

I will hold this hospital responsible for anything that happens to my daughter as it would appear from the rest of the family that she is not getting on too well on the Clozapine.  She has telephoned in a disorientated state of mind and obviously this is yet another drug that is not working at all.

TOGETHER ENFIELD MENTAL HEALTH AND SLAM HAVE PUSHED DRUGS LEFT RIGHT AND CENTRE AT MY DAUGHTER.  ENFIELD MENTAL HEALTH SOCIAL SERVICES HAVE ALSO GOT INVOLVED IN TRYING TO PERSUADE HER TO GO ON CLOZAPINE.  WHAT BUSINESS IS IT OF A SOCIAL WORKER TO TRY AND PERSUADE SOMEONE TO TAKE CLOZAPINE.  WHAT GOOD IS CLOZAPINE AS WHEN READING THE RESEARCH PAPERS YOU REALLY SEE JUST HOW HARMFUL THIS DRUG IS.

WHAT GOOD IS NICE WHEN THEIR GUIDELINES DO NOT PROTECT THE PATIENT.

I HAVE MORE RESEARCH PAPERS WHICH I WILL SHARE WITH YOU ALL TOMORROW.

I hope this protest will be one of many and what we need is as many people as possible to speak out against the injustice of what is going on in psychiatry.

I want to know and see proof of a diagnosis and was amazed when the Consultant Psychiatrist mentioned he likes to start afresh.    I was stunned when I saw an interview on a dvd by another Consultant Psychiatrist from Maudsley who says it takes 2 minutes to come up with a diagnosis.

IT IS ALL A BIG CON.   IF THERE IS NO CERTAINTY OR PROOF AS TO THE DIAGNOSES – WHAT RIGHT DO THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO EXPERIMENT ON OTHERS WHO, FROM WHAT I CAN SEE ARE THE MOST HIGHLY INTELLIGENT PEOPLE, AGAINST THEIR WISHES.  A BREAKDOWN CAN BE CAUSED BY A  TRAUMATIC EVENT, WORK PRESSURE, BULLYING AND ABUSE.   I HAVE SEEN SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY GET BETTER AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS WITHOUT ANY DRUG INTERVENTION –  JUST TIME WAS NEEDED.   BUT COUNSELLING AND CBT ARE ALSO GOOD.  HYPNOTHERAPY WHICH MAY NOT BE APPROVED BY SOME – THIS WORKED AND SHE CAME OUT A DIFFERENT PERSON.  AT LEAST THIS IS NOT DRUG INTERVENTION AND WHEN SHE ASKED TO GO BACK FOR MORE THAT SAID IT ALL.  EVEN THE CONSULTANT PSYCHIATRIST SAID IT WOULD RELAX HER SO WHY IS THIS NOT WIDELY GIVEN UNDER THE NHS AS A CHOICE FOR PATIENTS WHEN IT IS AVAILABLE UNDER THE NHS.

Today Elizabeth corresponded by text and tonight we spoke on the telephone very late.  She said it is a nice place and the food is lovely but I am concerned.  Cambian are still dishing out harmful drugs and I am worried there is something wrong with Elizabeth’s health as she has complained of some serious effects from this drug Clozapine.  I may have to insist on an independent doctor examining her.   I am very very concerned for her indeed after tonight’s phone call.

I know the countryside and area is lovely but it is a disgrace how the teams did this without allowing her time to say goodbye to family.  Why the rush –  why the panic.

I am so bitter towards this hospital and the way they  have behaved that I would be happy to give huge worldwide publicity.   On Friday there may well be the opportunity and I intend to make the most of it.

From what I gather Elizabeth has not got half her possessions.  I need to ring the ward tomorrow and find out where they are.

Tonight they have her 2 Lorazepam tablets and this is no good so I will have to have a word with the staff there at Cambion as I thought they were not all about pushing drugs.   It is the NHS cruel wicked care that does just that and then patients are forced to take these chemicals under a section.

I do not know how long she will be there but she said it is lovely, like a 4 star hotel and food is good.  I am distressed and sorry for my daughter after the phone call I heard from her today.

I feel so helpless now but bitter towards them all for just pushing drug afte drug and not solving anything and how is this affecting the health of my poor daughter.  I must insist on an independent doctor visiting my daughter after tonight’s phone call.

Whilst I am happy Elizabeth is in a nice place albeit a long way away from the family,  I had a distressing phone call from her late at night today.  She complained of severe pains and feels there is something wrong with her heart/liver.   She had to ask for Lorazepam and of course staff gave her this.  I will have to ring them tomorrow as I am not happy as I thought the idea of this place was not to drug people up – I thought Cambian was different.  With the high level of drugs given to my daughter I have every right to be worried.   SLAM could not have cared less and I cannot wait to talk to the press on Friday and tell them exactly what I think.

There are others who also feel strongly about SLAM – for instance there are patients who are most upset about their treatment at this awful place.

Meanwhile I do not know what has happened to all the possessions of Elizabeth –  the lovely oils, the other things seem to have been left behind.  I am now going to write to the very woman – Clinical Service Lead Inpatient Complex Care  to see if she can enlighten me on what has happened to her possessions.   This is the heartless woman who would not let Elizabeth have a couple of items she requested on the ward when they banned me.   I have now decided to deal directly with her on every occasion as a result of her attitude.

Spent this morning clearing out possessions from Elizabeth’s flat and then went to meet some new friends with shared desire to see better mental  health care in place.

One good thing about this terrible situation is the fact I have met so many nice people.

Elizabeth seems very very happy.  The four star wards are a far cry from the local acute wards.  The environment is peaceful and the countryside is beautiful.  The good is brilliant and she is extremely happy.

The reason I believe Cambion has got things right is because they listen to the patient. and the patient instead of being dismissed is involved.   There are many other things not available under local NHS acute wards.

Obviously things were done terribly by SLAM and hastily she was moved without me being able to say goodbye.

She is a fair distance away but I am so h appy she is in a decent place.

One good thing is that my basic website not only helps me keep a record of what is going on with Elizabeth’s care but as a result of this and by using Facebook I have come into contact with such marvellous people who I feel I have known for years and have true understanding of what things are really like under the awful mental health system.  I am told it is such people like patients leading newspapers want to hear from.  I think it is extremely brave of any patient to speak out against this abuse.  Anyway I am glad I have made so many nice friends as a result in campaigning for better mental health care.

I received a telephone call from Elizabeth tonight and she was very happy.  The ward she described as like a luxury hotel.  The food she described as delicious and very good.

The peacefulness of the environment is good for someone who stressed out and unwell.  The local acute wards are apalling –  Cambion 4 Star Wards are what is needed.   ALL WARDS SHOULD BE LIKE CAMBION FOUR STAR WARDS.

It would have been nice to have been told about the move for my daughter away from home and away from where she is currently – in fact a long distance away.   I could at least do the journey in a day where she is now but it is so very awful.   Anyway, the move took place today and I had a string of phone calls yesterday but was unable to take them as I was working.  Fancy just giving a day’s notice.  What kind of behaviour is this.  It is cruel and horrible of them not to give at least a week’s notice so that I could have said goodbye to my daughter.

I would be willing to provide and send Elizabeth to another country if there was decent care.  For instance Tornio in Finland is supposed to have unique care and I would have been happy to try and provide this as there is no decent care here.  The care I have in mind is minimal drugs with diet, nutrition emphasised.  Orthomolecular care is what I would like most of all.

She is being moved somewhere nicer but I cannot help but feel this has been done very hastily.  It is unusual for the team to act so quickly.  Why are they panicking so  – is it because of the good work of the new advocate I appointed in place of Rethink.  It made my day when I turned up for the meeting on Saturday with the n ew advocate.

Well I would not like to disappoint anyone at SLAM as there are other patients languishing on that hell on earth ward and one poor patient has been there for 2 years –  I asked a nurse how long patients were left on their ward for and what was the longest time and this is the response I got.  I was horrified.  It was bad enough visiting let alone being a patient.  This is no decent place to get better it is enough to make anyone suffer nightmares.    I will continue to take an interest in things and cannot wait to get my files.   This could be another factor why they have panicked – I am sure they have all said lovely things about me.

However I would not like to disappoint the team and turn my back.  I feel it my duty to continue to take a keen interest  in this hospital.  I want to know exactly how the Consultant Psychiatrist has come up with his diagnosis.  I want evidence.

I also want the files not just here but locally too.

I have not mentioned the local area much but I am so furious with them that they will get a mention next time.

I also want to share the shocking letter from the GMC.

A letter from the Head of Pathway Complex Care (TL) was received by me today dated 6th July 2012.

“I need to bring to your attention the unfortunate events of Friday 29th July and the subsequent events of the weekend of 30th June and 1st July.

The Multi Disciplinary Team on Monday 2nd July had a detailed clinical discussion regarding the impact of these incidents and the distress caused to you and your daughter ………………….(by the way the name was misspelt!).

Following the discussion of the impact of these incidents on ……………………….tratment and care, as well as your ongoing relationship and support in ………………Recovery the team feel it necessary whilst an inpatient on FM2 ward at the Bethlem Royal Hospital that you refrain from visiting for a period of 2 weeks (until 15 July).

This period of respite would be beneficial to enable ……………………….. to  have a chance to discuss the issues with her advocate  (BY THE WAY RETHINK ARE HARDLY INDEPENDENT!!!!! they are closely linked to this hospital with psychiatrists on Board).  They are totally manipulated by the Consultant Psychiatrist of this ward to the point he refers any questions I may ask to them for approval and then when they were supposed to attend for meeting on riday  29th they did not turn up and so consequently no questions were answered.  TOTAL AND UTTER MANIPULATION AND CONTROL BY THIS TEAM.

You will continue to have phone contact with …………….and continue to have weekly phone conversations with A…………….as per previous agreement.  The ward team will support …………….to meet where she and her advocate can decide on a way forward that enables …………….to ensure her Recovery is sucessful.

I hope you are supportive these temporaty interim arrangements, please contact B B Clinical Service ead Inpatient Complex Care  on ………………….if you require any further information.”

Yours

“GET ME OUT OF HERE – DO WHATEVER YOU CAN”

“I AM UNHAPPY AND NEED TO BE MOVED FROM THE FIRST FLOOR AS I FEEL DIZZY ALL THE TIME”

I have since found the most wonderful advocate for my daughter who is totally manipulated and controlled by the team who try to make out she is fairly represented but it is dreadful what is going on in that hospital that is for sure.
